Review HONDA Switch Start fits CM400 1980

The 1980 Honda CM400 Switch Start is a classic motorcycle that boasts a rich history and timeless design. This bike is a fine example of Honda's engineering prowess and commitment to providing reliable, high-performance motorcycles.

The CM400 Switch Start features a 397cc, SOHC, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine. This engine is known for its smooth and powerful performance, delivering a peak horsepower of approximately 44 at 6,500 RPM and a torque of around 32 ft-lbs at 3,500 RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, providing the rider with precise control and a wide range of gear options for various riding conditions.

The bike's chassis is a steel twin-spar design, offering excellent rigidity and handling. The front suspension is a conventional 41mm telescopic fork, while the rear is a swingarm with a single shock absorber. Both suspension systems provide a comfortable and stable ride, ensuring a smooth journey on various road surfaces.

The 1980 Honda CM400 Switch Start comes equipped with a 17-inch front wheel and a 16-inch rear wheel, both shod with reliable and durable tires. The braking system includes a 276mm disc brake at the front and a 150mm drum brake at the rear, providing ample stopping power to ensure rider safety.

The bike's aesthetics are a blend of retro and modern, with its classic round headlight, chrome-plated fenders, and traditional handlebars. The switch start system adds a unique touch, allowing the rider to easily start the engine with the flick of a switch, rather than the traditional kickstart.

In terms of dimensions, the bike measures 2,170mm in length, 765mm in width, and 1,110mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 1,460mm and a seat height of 780mm, making it a comfortable ride for most riders. The fuel tank has a capacity of 15 liters, providing a decent range for longer rides.

In conclusion, the 1980 Honda CM400 Switch Start is a well-engineered and reliable motorcycle that offers a blend of classic styling and modern performance. Its powerful engine, reliable suspension, and robust braking system make it a great choice for both novice and experienced riders. The switch start system adds a unique touch, enhancing the bike's overall appeal and usability.

3. Simple design: The CM400 has a relatively simple design, which can make it easier to maintain and repair. It may also be less likely to break down on the road.

4. Good performance: Despite its age, the CM400 is still a capable bike. It has a powerful engine and can handle well on the road.

Cons of buying a 1980 Honda CM400:

Recommendation: If you are interested in buying a 1980 Honda CM400, it's a good idea to do your research and make sure that you are buying a well-maintained bike from a reputable seller. You may also want to consider purchasing extended warranty coverage to help protect yourself against unexpected repairs. Ultimately, whether or not the CM400 is the right bike for you will depend on your personal preferences, budget, and riding needs.

Details:

I have no control over the prices they quote you. Once there they take care of paperwork and pass the parts on to you.

You get them with just as much dirt, grime, rust as when I took it off of the bike. It is in working order.

This is a right switch off of a 1980 Honda CM400 e. 3 item condition. I go out and buy these vehicles with my money, I dismantle them, tag the parts, list the parts, and ship the parts all myself. I do not clean parts.

It is not negotiable.

I work hard for the money I get from these parts. If you are across the country and it takes 2 weeks for the package to get there I don't want to hear about it.

Use some common sense. If you are unhappy with the shipping cost, don't buy the item.

I ship twice per week.

There are no hidden surprises.

Selling on is not a free ride. Important things to know before making a purchase 1 shipping it is a flat rate charge as shown near the top of the item page.

I have to pay fees on the sale weather you pay for it or not and I am tired of paying fees for nothing. I do not take parts back because you bought them for the wrong year, wrong bike, or if you diagnosed your problem wrong, etc.

I do not cancel sales because you changed your mind or can not come up with the money. Used carbs will always need some sort of service, that could mean a light cleaning or a full rebuild.

They will have scratches, wear, dirt, surface rust, weathering, etc. This is mostly a one person show, occasionally I may hire a helper. It can be put on and used. With the global program quotes you the shipping price to get the items to you.

I don't take back carburetors or electrical parts. In my listings I will provide the year, make, and model that these parts were removed from, to the best of my ability.
